The V5 Serial Number is located on the document as below, and is usually comprised of one or two letters (or sometimes no letters) followed by seven numbers - A 1234567 or AB 1234567 for example.
The V5 Serial Number is different from the Document Reference Number, which is usually just a number (no letters) that is 11 or 12 digits long - 1234 567 8912 or 91234 567 8912 for example.
